How to format cells as currency, percent and dates in Excel

5 steps · Written for Mac. On Windows, use Ctrl for Command and Alt for Option.

  1. Select the cells
  2. Press Command-1 to open Format Cells
  3. On the Number tab, choose Currency, Percentage or Date
  4. Choose the symbol or style you want
  5. Click OK
