How to automate track volume in GarageBand
- Select the track
- Choose Mix > Show Automation, or press A
- Make sure Volume is chosen in the automation menu in the track header
- Click the line in the track to add points
- Drag points up or down to change the volume at those moments
- Press Space to listen
