How to fix a MIDI keyboard not working in GarageBand
- Connect the keyboard, then quit GarageBand and open it again
- Select a Software Instrument track, not an Audio track
- Play a key and check that the track's meter moves
- Choose GarageBand > Settings > Audio/MIDI and click Reset MIDI Drivers
- Open Audio MIDI Setup, choose Window > Show MIDI Studio, and check that the keyboard appears
- Try another USB cable or port
