How to recode a variable into a different variable in SPSS
- Choose Transform > Recode into Different Variables
- Move the variable into the box in the middle
- Under Output Variable, type a new Name and click Change
- Click Old and New Values
- Enter each old value or range on the left and its new value on the right, then click Add
- Click Continue
- Click OK and check the new variable in Data View
